Slack Notifications
Set up a Slack incoming webhook to receive your strategy alerts in a Slack channel.
Slack Notifications
You can receive your strategy alerts in a Slack channel. When one of your alerts fires -- your strategy enters or exits a trade on a candle that just closed -- Simula posts a message to Slack saying what happened and why.
This works through Slack's incoming webhooks feature. You create a webhook URL in your Slack workspace and paste it into Simula. No bot installation, no OAuth, and no coding required.
Which Plan You Need
Strategy alerts are part of the Standard and Premium plans. You can connect Slack on any plan, but Simula only sends alerts to it once you have an alert running on one of those plans.
Why Use Slack?
If you already use Slack for work or trading communities, adding Simula alerts means your signals show up where you're already looking. You can route alerts to a dedicated channel, keep them alongside your other trading tools, and read them from any device with the Slack app installed.
Slack is one of several places Simula can send alerts. Every channel you connect gets every alert -- for example, Slack for your desktop and Telegram for your phone. Alerts also always appear inside Simula (the bell, the notifications page and the alert's history), whether or not any channel is connected.
Setup
There are two parts: creating a webhook in Slack, then connecting it in Simula. The whole process takes about two minutes.
Step 1: Create a Slack App
Slack's incoming webhooks are part of the Slack App platform. You need to create a simple app to get a webhook URL. You do not need to write any code -- the setup is entirely through Slack's web interface.
- Go to api.slack.com/apps and click Create New App.
- Choose From scratch. Give your app a name (e.g., "Simula Alerts") and select the workspace where you want to receive alerts.
- In the app settings sidebar, click Incoming Webhooks.
- Toggle Activate Incoming Webhooks to On.
- Scroll down and click Add New Webhook to Workspace.
- Pick the channel you want alerts posted to (you can create a dedicated
#trading-alertschannel for this), then click Allow. - You will see a new webhook URL under Webhook URLs for Your Workspace. Copy it -- it starts with
https://hooks.slack.com/services/...
Step 2: Connect in Simula
- Go to Account settings, then the Notifications tab, and find the Slack card.
- Paste your webhook URL into the field.
- Click Connect. Simula sends a test message to your Slack channel and saves the URL only if the test arrives. The card then shows Connected.
That's it. Every alert you run now posts to Slack as well as to your other connected channels. You can also connect Slack while creating an alert: the Where alerts go part of the create sheet has the same Connect button.
What Messages Look Like
Simula sends one message per alert event: each entry and each exit is its own message. Each message shows:
- A header with the symbol, the timeframe and what the strategy did, for example
EURUSD 1h -- Entry into Long Trade. A strategy that uses more than one timeframe showsMulti-Timeframein place of the timeframe. - The strategy name
- The candle that triggered it, as its close time in your time zone (for example
14:00 candle close (Europe/London)), or the date for a daily strategy - A "Why" line -- the condition that held, with the values at that candle (for example
Why: RSI(14) 28.4 < 30), or for an exit by a rule, the rule (for exampleWhy: Take Profit at 2%) - An Open in Simula button that goes to that event on the alert's page
A message does not include a price. The alert's page in Simula has the full record. The time zone is the one on the Time zone card in the Notifications tab; until you save one, times are in UTC.
Besides alerts, Slack also receives the notices about your usage running low and about your alerts stopping or restarting because of it, so you hear about it while you are away from Simula.
Managing Your Connection
The Slack card shows where the channel stands: Connected, Failing (the last few sends did not go through and Simula keeps trying), or Turned off (Slack refused for good, for example because the webhook was removed, so Simula stopped sending). It also shows the webhook URL with its secret part hidden, and when the last message was delivered.
- Send test posts a test message so you can check that alerts arrive.
- Disconnect deletes the saved webhook URL. There is no on/off switch that keeps the URL: to get Slack alerts again, paste a webhook URL and connect again.
Quiet Hours
The Quiet hours card in the same tab pauses Telegram, Discord, Slack and push notifications between the hours you choose, in your time zone. An alert that fires during quiet hours is not posted to Slack afterwards -- it still appears in Simula.
